Commemorative Rosary of the Centennial of the Apparition in Pontevedra

The Commemorative Rosary of the Centennial of the Apparition of Our Lady and the Child Jesus in Pontevedra, Spain, was inspired by the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a central element of the Message of Fatima.

The Heart of Mary, without blemish, serves as an icon of God's loving presence in the world.

Handmade in Fatima, Portugal, the Rosary is crafted with glass beads in a mixture of colors ranging from white to pink, symbolizing humanity's hopes and anxieties. After each decade, there is a white heart-shaped bead that rep-resents devotion to the First Saturdays of the month, offered in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The medal of the Rosary, also heart-shaped, features on its obverse side the logo of the Centennial of the Apparition in Pontevedra and, on its reverse side, the commemorative dates of the event: 1925-2025. The Rosary ends with a silver metal crucifix adorned with elements associated with Fatima.

APPARITION OF OUR LADY AND THE CHILD JESUS

 10-12-1925, Pontevedra, Spain

"Appeared to her the Most Holy Virgin and, beside her, borne by a cloud, a Child. The Most Holy Virgin, placing one hand on her shoulder, showed her, at the same time, in the other hand a heart surrounded with thorns. Simultaneously, the Child said: «Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother, covered with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment, and there is no one to make an act of reparation to remove them. Then, said the Most Holy Virgin: Look, my daughter, at my Heart, surrounded with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce me at very moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You at least try to console me and say that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the rosary, and keep me company for 15 minutes while meditating on the 15 mysteries of the rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me.» On February 15, 1926, the Child Jesus appeared to Lucia once more, reiterating Our Lady's request.

The devotion of the First Saturdays was officially approved on September 13, 1939, by the Bishop of Leiria, in Fatima.

LOGO OF THE CENTENNIAL OF THE APPARITION IN PONTEVEDRA

The logo for the Centennial of the Apparition in Pontevedra was created by the World Apostolate of Fatima. It takes the form of a stylized heart outlined with a double line in two colors: blue and red.

The color blue symbolizes the Virgin Mary, while red represents Her suffering heart, wounded by humanity's sins and seeking reparation. On the right side of the heart are five blue spheres that signify the five offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

At the center of the heart is an image depicting Our Lady and the Child Jesus from their apparition on December 10, 1925, in Pontevedra.

The design is completed with a small cross at the bottom, evoking the Rosary.
